Sandhills Orthodontics strives to create a family atmosphere where patients feel fully comfortable when receiving care. We love learning about you as a patient and as a person, and we aim to have every person we treat leaving happier and healthier than when they arrived. We are also an eco-friendly practice that cares just as much about protecting our planet as we do about protecting your dental health. We make visiting the orthodontist fun!

Meet Our Team
Our staff makes up the heart of who we are and what we value as a practice. We care about our patient interactions from the moment you schedule your first appointment, to when you meet with Dr. McConville, through when you leave our office! Our team is experienced and confident in the level of care they provide, and we enjoy seeing the change that occurs in each smile. We love getting to know each patient, and we want you to get to know us!
Wendy is a graduate of Central Carolina Community College’s dental assisting program and joined Dr. McConville in 2010 as an orthodontic assistant. In 2017 she moved to the clerical portion of the practice to become the Financial Coordinator and has since been promoted to Office Manager. She has four children and four grandchildren. In her spare time, you may find her being a chauffeur, cook or bottle washer for her grandchildren and she occasionally likes to make it to the lake or beach.
Erin was born and raised in Sanford, NC, and has been our Treatment Coordinator since January 2019. She is passionate about her work and especially treasures her role in helping patients take their first step in the journey toward an amazing smile. She married her high school sweetheart, Michael, and they have one son, Trey. Outside of the office, Erin enjoys being outdoors with her family, especially if it’s a summer day spent on the lake or relaxing at the beach.
Ashley joined us in 2011 after graduating with a degree from the Central Carolina Community College Dental Assisting Program. Over the years, Ashley has become an integral part of our practice, eventually earning the role of Clinic Coordinator. Her favorite part of her job is the opportunity to get to know our patients over the course of their treatment, then watching their faces light up when they see their new smile for the first time. Ashley is from Fort Bragg and loves being a mom to her two precious kids and spending time on their boat and at the beach. Sunshine and summertime are her favorites and Ashley dreams of someday living close enough to the coast to be able to head to the beach whenever she wants.
Shannon joined our practice in September 2016. She was born and raised in Sanford, NC. She married her highschool sweetheart and together, they have three children. They also have four canine fur babies. She loves to spend time with her family, cook, shop and watch movies.
We welcomed Liz to Sandhills Ortho in September of 2021 as a Schedule Coordinator. Liz is fluent in Spanish and a native of Sanford, with a background in customer service. She has a friendly, can-do attitude and her favorite part of her job is the opportunity to interact with and help patients. In her spare time, Liz loves spending time with her family (especially her sweet daughter), traveling, watching movies, and going out to eat.
Harry served for 8 years in the US Army as a military police officer. In that time, he was deployed to Haiti and Iraq. After the military, he graduated from the dental assisting program at FTCC in 2015 and then joined the Sandhills Ortho team. In his spare time, he loves to cook and play video games.
Katelyn is originally from Pittsboro, NC and joined our team in October 2019 as an orthodontic assistant. She describes Sandhills Ortho as her “second family” and genuinely cherishes her role in helping patients achieve their most beautiful, healthy smiles. When she’s not at work, Katelyn loves the beach, traveling, and spending time with her handsome nephew, beautiful niece, and goldendoodle, Hank… especially if sushi or Cold Stone ice cream is involved.
Bio to Come
Jen joined our practice in June of 2021, supporting Sandhills Ortho’s marketing and outreach initiatives. Originally from Illinois, Jen graduated from the University of Illinois with a dual degree in Economics/English, but has called North Carolina home for the last 15 years. She has a background in administration, event planning, and design, and loves the creative and community building aspects of her job. Outside of work, Jen loves spending time with family and friends, trying new restaurants, and listening to true crime podcasts.
Sampson is Dr. McConville’s sweet boxer and the source of our practice tagline: “Need a Better Bite?” His lovable disposition, combined with the irony of being an orthodontist’s furbaby with an extreme underbite, earned Sampson the role of our beloved mascot. His favorite thing to do is cuddle with his family. While Sampson enjoys his role here at Sandhills Ortho, he hasn’t let the fame go to his head.
